Stree actress Flora Saini accuses producer Gaurang Doshi of physical assault

Remember the ghost in the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree? Flora Saini, the actress who played the ghost in the film has now come forward to narrate her ordeal of physical abuse at the hands of producer Gaurang Doshi. She shared her story in a Facebook post. The actress alleged that Doshi was physically violent with her in 2007 when the two were in a relationship.

The reasons for the altercation are yet unknown which resulted in Flora fracturing her jaw and suffering immense psychological trauma. Along with her post, she also shared her photos taken just after the assault. Flora told a portal that she narrated her ordeal to people in the industry but nobody gave much heed. She was eventually replaced from projects and was threatened by Gaurang to keep quiet for the sake of her career.

However, Flora told the portal that she couldn’t reveal much about the case as it’s still pending in court. She said, “My case is still in the court and hence I can’t really talk much. Aishwarya Rai was the only person who came out in my support and I say that because Gaurang had signed her for a film and she backed out of that project; she refused to work in the film saying that she will not work with a woman-beater. After that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walked out of the film. I have so much love and regards for her because when nobody was standing up for me and I was totally helpless, there was this one person didn’t want to work with an abuser.”

She also supported the #MeToo movement and said that now people are coming forward and sharing their stories and naming, shaming and blaming their perpetrators.
