Abhay Deol to play the lead in Shabbir Boxwala's rugby-based sports drama?

It is not unknown that Shabbir Boxwala is producing the Vikram Batra biopic, starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead, in collaboration with Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. But now we hear that the producer is bankrolling another project with Abhay Deol in the lead. It is said that he will co-produce the sports-based film, titled Jungle Cry, with Los Angeles-based producer Prashant Shah.

A leading daily quoted a source, "It’s a sports-based film called Jungle Cry. Abhay plays the role of a real-life coach Rudraksha Jena, who is based in Bhubaneshwar. He had led an under-14 team to victory at the International School Rugby Tournament in London in 2007."

Apparently, the role was first offered to Abhishek Bachchan but since things did not materialize with him, the makers eventually roped in Abhay.

The report further suggested that Abhay has been busy prepping for the film and is learning the game of Rugby. The film will go on floors within a month in Odisha.

Meanwhile, it is interesting to note that Shabbir has already worked with the other Deol brothers, Sunny and Bobby and now he is all set to work with Abhay as well. Well, how this collaboration turns out to be, is still left to be seen.

On the work front, Abhay was last seen in Nanu Ki Jaanu (2018) and will feature next in Aanand L Rai's Zero, also starring Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif.
