Nana Patekar's advocate admits not sending a legal notice; Tanushree Dutta says why wait?

Former Miss India Tanushree Dutta opened a can of worms when she accused actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment and intimidation on the sets of the 2008 film Horn OK Pleasss. The actor in his defense denied all allegations and proceeded to say that he will be sending a legal notice to the actress seeking an apology for the defamation. However, Tanushree issued a statement today saying that she has not received any notice as such.

Tanushree in her statement said, “Given the recent developments, I am putting together a team of lawyers and advocates to defend my interests. Also contrary to claims made by Nana’s lawyer I have not received any legal notice. So Bluffmaster Gogo needs to step up his game a bit here. Instead of making empty threats to intimidate me into silence, send me a legal notice and then you will see what I will do with it!! Another very important issue that this current scenario raises is how when a victim speaks up there are morally bankrupt and corrupt lawyers and advocates who come forward to defend serial harassers and offenders for their two seconds of fame. Despite witnesses coming forward and all evidence in my support, I’m being subjected to criminal intimidation and harassment by Nana’s helper.”

She further added, “I’m sure this guy has many skeletons in his closet too as birds of a feather always flock together. This is the story of countless millions in our country who are still waiting for justice because they got dragged into a web of legal mumbo jumbo and were silenced into submission. They make a mockery of not only our judiciary but also our esteemed constitution by trying to disrupt a person’s freedom of speech by such threats. This lawyer along with his client should both be questioned and taken to task. I have a humble request to the bar association of India to call out and take action against him and other such people who help perpetrators further harass their victims and witnesses in the name of the law.

On the other hand, Nana’s lawyer Advocate Rajendra Shirodkar said, “We will initiate appropriate legal proceedings including filing a complaint about defamation as of Now have not sent any notice. Nana is yet to decide how to take it further. Nana is not well all these allegations are imaginary and who told you that Nana eloped from the set. He is not well and now in Pune with family. I will be Meeting him on Monday. Then will decide how to take it further. We have only one question if she was molested why refused to register an FIR. Assistant director has come forward on social media, why she didn’t go to the police station with her at that point of time. Tanushree needs a break in Bollywood and her PR team is working well.”

Nana had taken off with the team of Housefull 4 for a shoot in Jaisalmer two days ago as choreographer Farah Khan had shared a picture on Instagram. However, rumours are now rife that Nana took producer Sajid Khan's permission and flew back to Pune, and will shoot his portions for the film later. Reportedly, he is at his farmhouse and is in talks with his advocate for the further course of action.

Looks like the #MeToo movement has actually started in Bollywood and hopefully it brings justice to the victims.
