Karan Johar blew our minds off when he announced the cast of his period drama Takht. It was a casting coup of sorts with Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead. The film is a period drama that is slated for a 2020 release. Ever since the announcement, fans are excited to know who will be playing what character in the film.
According to an entertainment portal, Alia will be paired opposite her Raazi co-star Vicky whereas, Ranveer will be seen romancing Janhvi. The film traces the relationship between Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his elder brother Dara Shikoh or Dara Shukoh. Reportedly, Ranveer will play Dara and Vicky might play Aurangzeb. Kareena is expected to play the role of their sister Jahanara.
Speculations are rife that Alia will play the role of Dilras Banu Begum, popularly known as Rabia-Ud Daurani. She was Aurangzeb's favourite queen and bore him five children, whereas Janhvi is supposed to essay the role of Mughal princess, Nadira Banu Begum. Her role might not be too meaty as she died before Dara was executed by Aurangzeb in order to usurp the throne. If Ranveer and Janhvi are really paired opposite one another then this fresh pairing will definitely pique audience's interest manifold.
