Nikhita Gandhi clarifies her statement on how music labels tend to interfere in creative content. Read On

Nikhita Gandhi is reputed for pleasing the masses with chartbusters like Raabta, Ullu ka Pattha, Raat Baaki, Mujhe Chaand Pe Le Chalo and the very recent Aao Kabhi Haveli pe and Dhyanchand. The singer recently released her independent song titled Humshakal, which she herself composed and produced.

For the unversed, Nikhita was recently misquoted in an interview saying that 'Music labels tend to interfere in creative content'  when asked 'Why did she not release her independent song titled Humshakal through a music label?'

Reportedly, a few days back, during an interview, she had stated, "The interference of music labels in the creative content is one of the drawbacks in our country. Of course, there are some music labels that give artistes full freedom and support their music at the same time, but most of them do not function that way. Whereas abroad, the scene is different. In the international scene, music labels are only involved in promotion and distribution, and that gives many new independent artists a chance to come up with new songs and new content. Having said that, the scene is changing in our country too."

Unfortunately, there has been a mere confusion about what Nikhita was intending to say and what has been published. The songstress explained, "When asked about 'Why didn’t I release my single with a music label?', I spoke about how music labels in India are usually involved with the creative process of independent songs and Humshakal was already conceptualized, so I decided to release my single independently. I did also enthusiastically mention that I am looking forward to releasing my next few singles with labels and these videos and songs will have social messages which I hope reach a larger audience."
Now the clarity has come out about how the published statement by Nikhita has words which were completely unintended for the question asked in the interview. Unfortunately, there has been a mere confusion about what Nikhita was intending to say and what has been published.
