The narrative of Sadak 2 is pulled out from my lived life, says director Mahesh Bhatt

On the occasion of his 70th birthday on September 20, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt announced the sequel of his 90s hit film SadakAdding to the excitement, he will once again don the director's hat with the sequel, featuring Pooja and  Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur in primary roles. The film will not only bring together the father daughter duo for the first time but will see Sanjay, Alia and Aditya uniting on the big screen as well. Sadak 2 is scheduled to release on March 25, 2020.

The original film not just achieved a cult status but also managed to win multiple accolades. With Sanjay and Pooja in the lead roles, the romantic thriller won appreciation across the globe. The blockbuster helmed by Mahesh is still fresh in the minds of the audience even after 27 years of release.

With his trademark candor and brutal honesty, Mahesh Bhatt described the feeling of being back as director for Sadak 2 and said, "Like the spider gets its thread from his own guts. The narrative of Sadak 2 is pulled out from my lived life. It's a film about living, loving and dealing with the anguish of the loss of a loved one."

The founder of Vishesh Films and brother Mukesh Bhatt added that it's an emotional moment for him as Sadak is extremely close to his heart. He further said the film is not merely a project for him but a fulfilling experience as a filmmaker. Apparently, the co-producer of the film Sakshi, is the daughter of Mukesh.

"Though I have made so many films in the 32 years of Vishesh Films, Sadak has a very special place in my heart because it's one of the most iconic hits of my career. My gladiator Mahesh Bhatt is back to perform in the arena once again. Sanjay Dutt and him have a magical past and they share a bond which is beyond professional understanding. With Alia coming on board,Pooja being there and my daughter Sakshi, who is the co-producer of the film - The three sisters will be seen performing important roles. I know this journey will be the most fulfilling experience that I have had in so many years as a filmmaker and I am looking forward to it,” he Mukesh.
