Kareena Kapoor Khan to star in a dark comedy? Here’s what we know so far

Kareena Kapoor Khan is all set to manage an arduous schedule with her upcoming projects – Good News and Takht. And if that wasn’t enough, Kareena’s work routine might just end up becoming even more tedious with another film – a dark comedy rather, if at all she ends up signing the offer made to her, a leading daily reports.

Good News, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, casts Kareena opposite Akshay Kumar and she will begin shooting for it by December while Takht will begin filming next August. Sources, meanwhile, told the daily that the 37-year-old actress has been offered several other projects including a dark comedy.

The film is based in a Uttar Pradesh town and Kareena, as per sources, will play the role of a village girl.  "One of them is a dark comedy. The woman-centric drama is set in a small town in UP and Kareena's role is that of a village belle,” the daily quoted a source as saying.

The script, however, hasn’t been narrated to Kareena as yet and she will only be able to take a decision on the film after it. "Kareena will decide once she hears the script. She will wrap up work on Good News around March. Before Takht takes off, she has a four-month break where she plans to schedule another movie. But as of now, she hasn't signed anything else,” the source added.

Takht will be directed by Karan, with whom Kareena worked in 2001’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The film features an ensemble cast apart from Kareena – Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor.

Kareena, meanwhile, made her comeback onscreen with Veere Di Wedding in June after taking a short break following the release of her 2016 film Udta Punjab.
