Prernaa Arora buys the remake rights of Rekha-Vinod Mehra starrer Ghar

Producer Prernaa Arora is currently on a spree to remake old classics. It is reported that the producer has bought the rights to the Rekha-Vinod Mehra starrer Ghar (1978). The film is a cult classic and was critically acclaimed. Directed by Manik Chatterjee the film was about a young, newly married couple coping to save their marriage after the wife is gang-raped.

Ghar was a brave film that spoke about a taboo topic in the ‘70s. The film’s music was a huge hit and even the song Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na is remembered even today. Although Prernaa has acquired the rights of the film no announcement has been made about its lead star cast. We wonder, who will Prernaa sign on to star in the film.

Currently, there is a spree of remakes in Bollywood. In fact, previously the remakes made in Bollywood were generally South Indian films but nowadays the trend is remaking the classic cult and popular films. Interestingly, Prernaa herself is buying rights to many films. She has already bought the rights of the 1964's Raj Khosla directed film Woh Kaun Thi? that will star Bipasha Basu and her business partner Arjun N Kapoor.

Previously Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was supposed to star in the remake of the Sadhana-Manoj Kumar film but now Bipasha has been roped in her place. The film’s music score composed by Madan Mohan is still remembered today and we hope that the remake does not spoil the tracks if they are retained.

Prernaa who was associated with KriArj Entertainment before exited the production house and has launched a new production house last week called Studio Five Elements along with Arjun N. Kapoor, Ahmed Khan and Shaira Khan.
