It was reported that producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainments had bought the rights to yesteryear thriller Woh Kaun Thi? and might rope in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the lead in the film. However, now that a new production house Studio Five Elements is helming the project, the film will see some major changes. According to reports by a leading trade portal, Prernaa who is still backing the film will have the male lead as her business partner, Arjun N Kapoor and Bipasha Basu will step into the shoes of Aishwarya.
For the unversed, after exiting Kriarj, Prernaa along with Arjun N. Kapoor, Ahmed Khan and Shaira Khan launched a new production house last week, Studio Five Elements.
Reportedly, the project will get a new director and shooting will start on October 10, this year. It remains to be seen whether Kapoor and Bipasha manage to create the same magic and chemistry that 1964 hit starring Sadhana and Manoj Kumar created. The cult classic has the well-known song and iconic song Naina Barse Rmjhim Rimjhim that has eerily spooky vibes to it. The psychological mystery film was directed by Raj Khosla and the music by Madan Mohan was the asset of the film.

Aishwarya, who starred in Fanney Khan as the pop sensation baby Singh was supposed to do the Who Kaun Thi? remake. Fanney Khan was also Prernaa’s production till it was acquired by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series after a major fallout. Aishwarya was keen to take on Sadhana’s role but had asked the makers for some credits and get their rights in place.
Aishwarya, while speaking about her forthcoming projects had said in an interview to a leading daily, “There were two remakes (Woh Kaun Thi and Raat Aur Din), which were interesting ideas. I respect the movies of those times (the 60’s). So, I asked them to get their rights in place.”
Now that Bipasha is taking over the role from Aishwarya, it remains to be seen how the project pans out. However, keeping in mind that of late she has found her niche in the horror-mystery genre she might do a commendable job.
