Sonakshi Sinha has signed Anurag Basu's new film after Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kangana Ranaut declined an offer to star in it, a leading daily reports. Anurag’s film is set in a metropolitan city and narrates four inter-connected stories. The filmmaker hoped to cast Kareena in the lead role but she couldn’t accept since she had committed to Karan Johar beforehand with Good News.
Kangana, who made her debut with Anurag’s film Gangster and also worked with him in Life in a... Metro and Kites, was approached next for the aforementioned project but she opted to do another film with the director, titled Imli. Thereafter, Sonakshi was offered the role in Anurag’s film and she certainly agreed.
"Bebo has already signed Karan Johar's Good News, which rolls around the same time, so she had to decline Anurag's offer. Then, Kangana Ranaut was approached for the same. She decided to do his Imli instead with Rajkummar Rao and told her mentor-director that she won't be able to do this movie. She (Sonakshi Sinha) was given a narration and offered the role two weeks ago. The Dabangg actress has signed on the dotted line,” the daily quoted a source as saying.
Saif Ali Khan is also a part of the project, according to the report. Neither Sonakshi nor Saif, however, provided any official confirmation on this film as yet and if at all, both have signed this project – it will be their second collaboration together after 2013’s Bullett Raja. Sources, in the meantime, also told the daily that Sonakshi and Saif do not star opposite each other in Anurag’s film but appear in certain scenes together.

"They aren't paired opposite each other but will have some scenes together," the source said.
The report also states that Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Rajkummar Rao co-star in the film. "Raj was the first to say yes to it. Soon afterwards, Abhishek also joined in and Taapsee gave her nod, too. If Sidharth Malhotra says yes, he will be paired opposite her," the source added.
Sonakshi was last seen in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi.
