Sidharth Malhotra to join Abhishek and Rajkummar Rao in Anurag Basu’s Life in a Metro 2

Anurag Basu’s film Life in a Metro which released in 2007 is probably one of the most loved films of recent times. The film had four stories inter-woven with each other and had an ensemble cast. The sequel to the film Life in a Metro 2 is in the pipeline and there are several speculations doing the rounds about the film’s cast. The director is yet to zero down on his leading ladies but it seems he has got his lead actors in place.

A source told a leading daily, “Anurag is in no hurry to start the film, as he is keen on getting the right people on board. He has approached Abhishek Bachchan, Siddarth Malhotra and Rajkummar Rao with parts in the ensemble cast.” Rajkummar and Abhishek have reportedly given their assent to the film. However, they will not star together in a story but will spearhead two different chapters in the film.

Now, the buzz is that Sidharth has also been approached to star in the film. Given that he hasn’t had much success as a solo hero, this film might do him good. However, no official confirmation from Anurag has come till now as he is waiting to freeze in all his actors and will give one final shoutout when the entire ensemble is in place. Sidharth is currently shooting for his film Jabariya Jodi opposite Parineeti Chopra and will also be seen in the Captain Vikram Batra biopic.

Previous to Abhishek and Rajkummar, it was reported that Anurag had approached Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan for the film but they did not come on board.

Reportedly, Ileana D'Cruz has also been approached for Life In A Metro 2. Ileana and Anurag had previously worked together in Barfi that also starred Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Life in a Metro had some stellar names in its cast like Irrfan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Kay Kay Menon, Kangana Ranaut, Sharman Joshi, Shilpa Shetty, Dharmendra, Shiney Ahuja and Nafisa Ali. The film’s music given by Pritam was a super hit too and can still be found in people’s playlist.
