Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 release date preponed? Here’s what we know so far

Republic Day 2019 appears to be an exciting ball game altogether as far as film releases are concerned. Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is expected to hit screens around January 26 as is Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India and Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30. But if a report in a leading daily is to be believed, Hrithik has decided to avoid the clash and prepone the release of his film to January 18.

"Since the makers are keen on a solo release, they have decided to advance the release by a week,” a source told the daily. Hrithik’s 2017 release Kaabil, in fact, had also clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees while trade pundits are of the opinion that his film would have fared better had it released solo. Hence, the stress on an independent release for Hrithik, this time.

"A three-way clash is not feasible as the films eat into each other's profits. Hrithik's last release Kaabil (2017) would have done much better had it not clashed with Raees. Also, since Super 30 is a biopic, it will take a while for the film to penetrate the single screen markets,” trade expert Amod Mehra told the daily.

Mehra, while speaking to the daily, also added that the Bal Thackeray biopic, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role, might also release during the Republic Day weekend.

"Balasaheb Thackeray's birth anniversary falls on January 23, and the makers plan to coincide the film's release with it. I don't think any other film will take on the biopic as the Bombay and C.P. Berar circuit will be dominated by it,” he said.

Directed by Vikas Bahl, Super 30 is based on the life of mathematician Anand Kumar. It co-stars Mrunal Thakur, who also starred in the television shows Mujhse Kuchh Kehti...Yeh Khamoshiyaan and Kumkum Bhagya.

Kaabil was Hrithik’s last release.
