Recently, Vishal was spotted attending the engagement bash of Priyanka and Nick Jonas, cementing the fact that he is extremely close to Priyanka as not many from the industry were invited. In fact, Priyanka was the one who had unveiled his film Pataakha's first look.

Vishal was supposed to begin a film with Irrfan earlier this year but the actor had to head to London for his treatment of the rare neuroendocrine tumour that he is suffering from. The project has been ultimately put on hold. When asked about the film, Vishal told media, “I don't know about the film's status. I can tell you my heart's status and it is that we all are praying for him. Obviously, I'm missing him as a friend but also as an audience. I want to see him on screen again, whether it's my film or someone else's."

On the work front, Vishal's upcoming Pataakha is a comedy-drama about two sisters, Badki and Chhutki and is based on an acclaimed short-story, Do Behnein by renowned writer Charan Singh Pathik. The film features Sanya Malhotra, Radhika Madan, Sunil Grover, Namit Das, Vijay Raaz, Sadanand Verma and Abhishek Duhan in lead roles. The film is slated for a September 28 release.
