I'm single; not looking for love right now, says Sidharth Malhotra

Ever since Sidharth Malhotra made his debut in the Hindi film industry with Karan Johar’s 2012 film Student Of The Year, link-up rumours surrounded him like nobody’s business. It was Alia Bhatt at first as Sidharth was romantically associated with her for a pretty long period of time following which gossip mills also attempted to establish a possible connection with his A Gentleman co-star Jacqueline Fernandez.

But what does the man himself have to say about reports as such? Well, Sidharth isn’t bothered about speculation concerning his relationship status and on the contrary, admitted in an interview with a leading daily, that he is very much single and isn’t looking for love at the moment. Instead, Sidharth is busy working on his career and prefers just that for now.

“Yes, I'm single. I'm not looking for love right now as well. I came to Mumbai with a dream. I need to do a lot of things to achieve my goals. I want to put all my energies in it,” Sidharth told the daily when asked if he is single.

Sidharth and Alia, co-stars of films Student Of The Year and Kapoor & Sons, made headlines all of 2017 for their rumoured relationship. Both were spotted together in and around Mumbai as well as at public soirées quite often. However, neither Sidharth nor Alia confirmed their affair ever or addressed it when asked about it by the press.

So the question of acknowledging their apparent break-up doesn’t even arise. Alia is currently dating her Brahmastra co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

During his interview, Sidharth added that marriage, as well, is not his priority but he will, of course, think about it at the right time. His entire concentration is on his career, now, as expounded.

“Marriage is definitely not on the cards. It's not a priority. I'm not thinking about settling down right now. Eventually, hopefully, I will. Maybe, before I turn 40! That means, I still have seven years in hand. My professional life has to take off first. I have to be in a place where I'm satisfied with it. Clearly, I am not at that stage yet,” Sidharth added.

When asked about making friends in the industry, Sidharth explained that he believes in keeping his professional and personal life separate. “I cannot call them friends; they are all colleagues. To confuse both would be futile,” he said.

Workwise, Sidharth was last seen in Aiyaary and will feature next in Jabariya Jodi with Parineeti Chopra.
