Makers of Satyameva Jayate reportedly planning a sequel with John Abraham; details here

John Abraham’s new film Satyameva Jayate has received a favorable response at the box-office, so much so, that producers Bhushan Kumar and Nikkhil Advani are planning to make a sequel to it, if a report in a leading daily is to be believed. Directed by Milap Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate cast John as a vigilante in the film who fights against corruption and social injustice.

The report also states that John will play the lead role in the sequel to Satyameva Jayate while the actor has apparently shown interest in the part. Discussions considering the script are on at the moment while the announcement will be made at the right time.

"John will definitely feature in the sequel to Satyameva Jayate. After all, he was one of the pillars of the film. The makers may take a cue from Vaastav (1999), where Sanjay Dutt's character Raghu was killed by his mother, but the actor was then seen as Raghu's son in the sequel Hathyar (2002). Right now, the discussions are at a nascent stage. They have bounced the idea of a sequel off John, who has shown interest. The team is keeping it under wraps as they want to find the right script first. They will make an announcement when the time is right,” a trade source told the daily.

Sources, however, couldn’t confirm whether Manoj Bajpayee, who starred in the film, will reprise his role in the sequel.

Bhushan Kumar, in conversation with the daily, also confirmed the idea of the sequel and said, "We will plan a sequel for sure. We are currently looking at scripts."

In spite of clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Gold at the box-office on August 15, Satyameva Jayate witnessed an encouraging response from audiences and has earned over Rs 75 crore since its release.

Satyameva Jayate also featured Aisha Sharma opposite John Abraham.
