Sonakshi Sinha manages to set the stage on fire with every song that she dances to. Now we hear that the Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi actress is all set to recreate Mungda, one of Helen’s chartbuster song from Raj N Sippy’s 1971 thriller Inkaar, for Indra Kumar’s forthcoming comedy Total Dhamaal. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Javed Jaffery, Arshad Warsi, Boman Irani, Pitobash Tripathy and Sanjay Mishra. The film is produced by Ajay, Fox Star Studios and Ashok Thakeria. Sonakshi will feature for this special dance number.
Indra told a leading daily that when the song was finalized they wanted a fantastic dancer to do justice to the yesteryear diva’s steps and that’s how they thought of Sonakshi. He added, “Helen ji is a legend. But I thought Sonakshi is the right girl for it.” Sonakshi is on cloud nine about the opportunity the song brings to pay homage to a legend.

She told the daily, “Indra ji was sure that he wanted only me for it. When I heard it for the first time, my instant response was, ‘I want to do this!’ It has the potential of becoming a chartbuster again. They are shooting it on a lavish scale, making everything larger-than-life, and I would love to be a part of that vision. We start shooting early next week, I’m super excited!” Sonakshi has started rehearsing for the song with Ajay, who enters midway through it making it a duet towards the end.
The director revealed that the song will mark the wrap up of Total Dhaamal. They are also taking efforts to ensure that the recreated song stand true to the original. He added, “We saved this song for the end of the shoot. We begin filming on August 26 and it will go on for four days. We have roped in a new music director duo, Gaurav-Roshan, to recreate the song which will be choreographed by Adil Shaikh. The old song was a big hit so it’s a huge responsibility on Sonakshi’s shoulders and mine too. We have picked up an iconic song now we have to deliver.”
Sonakshi will be reuniting with Ajay with this song with whom she starred in Son of Sardaar. She recently shot for a special number for Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se featuring Dharmendra, Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol.
