For the past few days, people had been excited over the rumours that said a sequel to 2008 hit film Dostana is on the cards. The original film starred Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan. With its one of a kind story that revolved around homosexuality told with a quirk and comedy, was an instant hit. Recently, rumours were abuzz that the director of Dostana, Tarun Mansukhani, was already working on the sequel.
Rumours had it that actor Sidharth Malhotra and actress Janhvi Kapoor of Dhadak fame will be paired in the sequel. Filmmaker Karan Johar, who had produced the film under his home banner Dharma Productions, responded to these rumours today. In a tweet, he refuted all such claims. He wrote, “Hello!!! All news circulating about DOSTANA 2 is untrue!!! Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless!!!”

Post his stint with Dostana in 2008, Tarun started working on the script of Dostana 2 and an animation flick titled Koochie Koochie Hota Hai. Though, it never progressed. On the other hand, Karan is currently occupied with multiple projects like Simmba, Brahmastra, Kalank, Kesari, Student of The Year 2, Drive, Takht.
Karan will return to the directorial chair with his magnum opus with his next big film Takht, yet another period drama and multi starrer featuring Anil Kapoor Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar.
With all the jazz going around in Dharma house, we are sure Dostana sequel is a far-fetched dream.
