Emraan Hashmi is currently working on his next, Cheat India. He will also be seen in a film titled, Father's Day, in which he is all set to play the character of a real-life Indian detective, Suryakant Bhande Patil, who has solved over 120 child kidnapping cases in the country for free. Considering his current line up of films, the actor has certainly made a paradigm shift after doing films like Raja Natwarlal, Hamari Adhuri Kahani and Raaz Reboot.
Now in a recent interview with a leading daily, the actor spoke about his son, Ayaan. and how his stint as a producer is perhaps guided by his concerns as a father. Talking about his upcoming films, he said, "A decade ago, films like Cheat India and Father’s Day would have been dismissed as 'ahead of their time' by the industry, but today, with the language of cinema changing and the audience too, I can afford to experiment. I want my films not just to be entertaining, cinematic experiences, I also want the stories to stay with people for days, months, hopefully years."
When asked if he was thinking of his son Ayaan’s future when setting up his company, he replied, "I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t. When Ayaan grows up, if he wants to take over the reins, the company is his. And since I’m an actor, my son would be inclined to follow me into the industry. But I don’t want him to limit his options. Sure, I’d be able to guide and protect him here since I know the territory well, but what if he has an acumen for business or wants to become a doctor? The decision has to be his."
On being further prodded, the actor who had earlier spoken how nepotism exist in the Bollywood industry, said that, "You can hold your child’s hand, take him to a point, but the journey is his. It’s a double-edged sword."
Cheat India is slated for a February 2019 worldwide release.
