Karan Johar speaks on letting the names of his writers shine in the poster of Takht

Karan Johar has announced his next directorial, a magnum opus in every sense, titled Takht. The film has got a stellar cast, probably the biggest one that any filmmaker has managed to bring on board in the recent time. Karan says he's "petrified" about the film, since he hasn't helmed any such mega period drama before. Also, because it's his first attempt to make a film which is based on real historical facts.

In an interview with popular film critic, Anupama Chopra, Karan gave away little more about the film than we already know. He talked about letting the writers of the film take the front seat in Takht.

While announcing the film, the director made sure he has the names of his writers -- Sumit Roy and Hussain Haidry, shine bold at the top of the poster. Karan said that the writers are the backbone of any film and they should be given a true credit. He said that while he never talked about it, he wanted to do something for them with his films, and Takht seemed like a right opportunity.

He explained, "It was my instinct. I have always said we need to empower writers. Films fail and succeed because of the writing. How can they not be given center stage in a film that is all about the writers? I will execute it but the true leaders in the game are the writers".

He added, "I really respect a director like Shoojit Sircar who gives Juhi Chaturvedi so much respect and prominence. Raju Hirani does the same with Abhijat Joshi. I’ve been in the industry for 20 years and it’s about time. I didn’t even speak to anyone about it. This just had to be done. I wanted to give writers deserving placement".

Karan also called Takht his K3G (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham) of the Mughal era. The film features Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor in pivotal roles.
