Akshay Kumar tells Madhuri Dixit, “You look like you sleep in a fridge!”

They have acted in just two films together, Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997) and Arzoo (1999), but Akshay Kumar and Madhuri Dixit have remained good friends and share a comfortable vibe whenever they meet.

One such occasion came up this week when the actor, who is on a nationwide promotional tour of his upcoming sports biopic Gold, visited the sets of the reality show Dance Deewane on which Madhuri is a popular judge. The actress, who was recently seen in Dharma Productions’ Marathi film Bucket List, was earlier a judge on the premier dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. In Dance Deewane, Madhuri is joined by Dhadak director Shashank Khaitan and choreographer Tushar Kalia.

It was a moment of sheer nostalgia for both when Akshay walked onto the sets and was warmly greeted by Madhuri. They were back together after close to 20 years. And though Akshay was accompanied by his Gold co-star Mouni Roy, the buzz on the set was between the superstar and the former Dhak-Dhak girl.

Akshay, who is known to be as witty as he is mischievous with co-stars when on the sets, looked at the gorgeous Madhuri with great admiration and said, “Ma’am, you are so beautiful, you look like you sleep in a fridge!” Known to give a backhanded compliment herself, the 51-year-old actress retorted quickly, “And you look like you sleep in a freezer!”
Interestingly, Mouni Roy who was indulgently watching this banter between the Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Arzoo jodi, was an anchor in 2016 for the dance show So You Think You Can Dance in which Madhuri was a judge. Then, two years later, Mouni became a part of Dance Deewaneas a celebrity guest, sharing the place next to Madhuri in judges panel. She and Akshay are shown dancing to a rocking song titled Monobinain Gold that has foot-tapping western beats and dance moves of a bygone era. Dance Deewane premiered on June 2 on Colors TV.
