Sarfarosh 2: John Abraham will step into Aamir Khan’s shoes

John Abraham is all set to step into Aamir Khan’s shoes in the second installment of the latter’s hit film Sarfarosh (1999). The actor confirmed that he was onboard the John Matthew Matthan’s venture Sarfarosh 2. Talking about the action-drama John told a leading daily, “John Mathew Matthan and I are co-producing the film. We are still working on the script, but, yes, it's happening with me. We plan to go on floors next year. He is probably the only director whose house I went to after seeing Sarfarosh and said, 'Man what a film'."

Sarfarosh was an action-drama that also starred Sonali Bendre and Naseeruddin Shah. The film became a cult hit with its tight script and direction. The music of the film also became chartbuster. Sarfarosh was about an IPS officer’s quest to stop cross-border terrorism. Aamir’s tough cop avatar was highly appreciated and so was Sonali’s bubbly act. The film received critical acclaim and went on to win the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

When John was asked whether he was apprehensive about stepping into Aamir’s shoes, he said, “I'm, in fact, excited. I love Aamir Khan. It's a challenge, but it's a different character and different story, even though the ethos is the same. It's going to be very exciting." The actor has an interesting line-up of films starting with Satyameva Jayate which will be releasing on August 15.

On the work front, John also has Batla House and Romeo Akbar Walter in the pipeline. His last release Parmanu – The Story of Pokhran had a successful run at the box office. Talking about Batla House, John told the daily, “Batla House will be the most explosive film you've seen. It'll show how polarised the world is, and it's straight in its face. If viewers accept Batla House, it will be the most successful film.” The film is directed by Nikkhil Advani and shows John as the cop who led the Batla House encounters which occurred in September 2008 against Indian Mujahideen terrorists in Jamia Nagar, Delhi.
