Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's comeback is long due now. The two last worked together in Guzaarish, eight years back. They created wonders whenever they came on-screen. In fact, Bhansali's last two projects -- Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, were initially supposed to be made with the light-eyed-beauty.

Aishwarya, in a recent interview with an entertainment portal, revealed that Bhansali failed to bring a suitable Khilji and Bajirao for her. She said that she always wanted to work with the filmmaker but at both these times, the casting didn't fall in place together for her.

The report quoted her saying, "Bajirao Mastani also we were supposed to do together. He didn’t get the Bajirao for me. He didn’t get the Khilji for me; He wanted me to do Padmaavat, but could not get the Khilji for me, at the casting time. So, that’s how it didn’t happen. I would love to work together".

She added, "The person he saw to play Khilji with me playing Padmavati did not happen. So, at the end of the day, you need to see the casting. If the casting is not happening, then you know…sometimes, it doesn’t come together. The intention is always there to work together, but it didn’t happen. We both loved working with each other, so let’s see, whenever it is meant to be".

In Padmaavat, released earlier this year, Deepika Padukone played the character of Rani Padmavati while Ranveer Singh played the character of Khilji. The film did quite well at the Box Office.
