Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 based on Anand Kumar’s life will no longer be treated as biopic

Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 is one of the most anticipated films of the year and was touted to be a biopic on the Mathematics whiz Anand Kumar who teaches IIT-JEE aspirants to realize their dreams. However, in the wake of reports alleging that Anand has made misleading claims about his foundation, the makers of the film find themselves in a fix. Now, reportedly director Vikas Bahl, producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Madhu Mantena have decided to not treat the film as a biopic but an inspiring story of a man who succeeds against all odds beating the system.

A leading daily reported, “Since the film is in post-production, they are considering removing all references to Anand. While it will revolve around a Math whiz whose coaching institute becomes successful, they will categorically not call it a biopic anymore.” Anand had claimed that 26 out of 30 students from his Super 30 batch cleared the prestigious IIT JEE exam this year. It has been alleged by Super 30 co-founder IPS officer Abhayanand and several parents of Anand’s students that the mathematician-teacher has made several false claims to sell his organization and his story.

A leading Hindi daily had reported in an expose how several students whom Anand claimed were products of Super 30 belonged to other coaching institutes. The report also claimed that students seeking admission to Super 30 were asked to join Ramanujan School of Mathematics, another institute that earns Kumar Rs 1 crore annually. Since the allegations have put the film in a negative spotlight, the makers are planning to change the tone of the film.

Super 30 also marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Mrunal Thakur and TV actor Nandish Sandhu. Mrunal plays Hrithik’s love interest in the film while Sandhu plays his younger brother. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi who is said to be the main antagonist of the film.
