Rajkummar Rao is all geared up for his next film - Fanney Khan, also starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Pihu Sand in the lead roles. The film is an official adaptation of Belgian film Everybody's Famous and is a journey of a father-daughter duo wanting to make it big in the world with their singing talent. While Anil plays the titular role, Rajkummar plays the boy-next-door and a true confidant for Anil, a layman.
Talking about the film during a recent media interaction, Rajkummar says he is excited to share screen space with Anil and Aishwarya. "The most important thing for me to say yes to Fanney Khan was the film's story. It talks about aspirations and I felt that I could connect to my character. Moreover, working with the two stalwarts is a dream come true for me," shared Rao.
When questioned if he has seen the original film, he denied it and added that whenever he starts a new film, he believes in having a fresh take. Rajkummar further talked about the debutant director Atul Manjrekar and said, "He is sensitive as a filmmaker and it does not feel like his debut film. He knows characters very well and has a vision."
Fanney Khan deals with the issue of body shaming. On being asked about his views on it, he says, "Pihu (Sand) who plays the lead role, has herself experienced it in real life. But we cannot judge people based on their physical appearances. It is more or less about who you are as a person that defines you and nobody has any rights to comments on anybody's body"
Last but not the least, Rao stated, "Anybody who is fighting to make life better or anyone we can look up to is a Fanney Khan." And for him, it is his mother, apart from Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan and Dilip Kumar saab.
Fanney Khan is slated to release on August 3, 2018. The film also features Divya Dutt and Anaitha Nair.
