Rajkummar Rao doesn't understand the term quintessential 'Hero' of hindi films; Here's Why!

Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for his next release Fanney Khan, which features him alongside Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. He will also star horror comedy Stree opposite Shraddha Kapoor. But despite doing commercial cinema and working with mainstream actors, Rajkummar does not feel like a 'hero'.
During a recent media interaction, Rajkummar was asked whether he has started feeling like a quintessential hero after winning several accolades for his work. To which, he replied, "I don’t know how a hero feels honestly. I feel like an actor and I wanted to be an actor. I always wanted to feel like an actor and I don’t understand the term quintessential hero of Hindi films.”

In times when a film's fate is judged by its heroes and heroines, Rajkummar states that whenever he is approached for a film by saying that it’s a typical hero film, he insists on addressing the characters with their names. He further cites that actors are not heroes and in fact, heroes are people who are fighting for us on borders. He feels that all those who go out to make the world a better place are the real heroes and says, "We are just doing our job that’s it”.
Well, we could not agree more.
The actor further added that he is not asking anyone to stop addressing all actors as heroes. But the actor himself cannot relate to the term and says, "To each his own".
On the work front, Rajkummar's next Fanney Khan deals with body shaming and is a journey of a father-daughter duo wanting to make it big in the world with their singing talent. It is slated to release on August 3. Stree, on the other hand, will feature him in the role of a local tailor from Madhya Pradesh. Directed by Amar Kaushik, it releases in theatres on August 31, 2018.
