Rajkummar Rao opens up on being a tailor for horror-comedy, Stree

Rajkummar Rao's next, Stree, has him play the role of a local tailor from Madhya Pradesh. The film is a horror comedy, also featuring Shraddha Kapoor in what Rajkumar describes as a 'brilliant role.'

The actor opened up about how he prepared for his character in the Prakash Kovelamudi's directorial, to a leading daily. He revealed, "Once you sit on that chair, the coordination and reflexes are something else. You can cheat with a body double but I wanted to do everything and bought myself a sewing machine and hired a tailor in Mumbai to teach me how to sew. I also had a tailor guiding me on the sets in Chanderi".

He talked about the genre horror comedy in India and said, "I took a couple of weeks off from other projects to prep for Stree. We finished the shoot in one go. The horror-comedy genre while unexplored in our country has a huge audience".

Rajkummar is also of the opinion that Shraddha is going to surprise everyone with her performance in the film. He mentioned, "She’s phenomenal, a hard-working actor who will surprise everyone! She’s a very sweet girl and now a dear friend".

The actor has got his hands full with some interesting films. He is still finishing up the post production work on Ekta Kapoor's Mental Hai Kya and is yet to start Made in China with Mouni Roy next. He also has a Hansal Mehta film with Patralekhaa, post which he will move to shoot another film with Kangana, titled Imli, directed by Anurag Basu. All this while he's currently shooting for a few scenes in Sonam Kapoor starrer Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and gearing up for the release of Fanney Khan, with Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
