Hopefully, I will give dad Boney Kapoor his career’s biggest hit: Arjun Kapoor

Unlike other star kids, Arjun Kapoor was not launched by his producer father Boney Kapoor. He made his Bollywood debut in Ishaqzaade opposite Parineeti Chopra which was a Yash Raj Films production. The actor waited three years to collaborate with his father, but in 2015 when he teamed up with Boney in Tevar the film did not live up to the expectations of box office. Now, Arjun wants to give his father a fresh start and give a box office hit which will be the biggest of his family.

Talking to a leading daily, Arjun said, “I think anyone – including a son like me – would want to see the biggest and brightest success story out of his/her family. In my career 2 States has been my most successful film. While Tevar did not do too well, I feel it should have done much better. It was a family film as it had my uncle Sanjay Kapoor in it as well.”

However, Arjun admits that he doesn’t have any regrets whatsoever about featuring in the film and would not like to change anything in it. Being philosophical, Arjun stated, “Sometimes, films come with their own destinies. Time also plays a big role. I feel Tevar came at a time when people were exhausted with that genre. If the masala genre gets repeated too many times, it will give you a feeling of eating out every day. After a point, you get bored of eating out and enjoy it only once in a while.”

Arjun heaped praise on Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani’s film Baaghi 2 and termed it as a “well-packaged masala film” that has come “after a long time.” Arjun maintained that a film has to come out at the right time, in an accurate proportion and must be presented in the correct manner. Arjun said that the year Tevar released, eight to ten films had released in the same genre and that affected Tevar adversely. People got bored with the masala commercial films that had come out in 2015. He reiterated that there was nothing wrong with the film, per se. Tevar also starred Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.

However, now Arjun one again wants to team up with his father and is raring to go. Being the practical and matured person he is, Arjun said that there is no need to cry over the past. He said that you should always learn and grow. Although he did say that now when they collaborate they will be more careful about certain things. Arjun said, “Hopefully, I will give him his career’s biggest hit.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Arjun will be seen opposite Parineeti Chopra in Namastey England and Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. He also has Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat in the pipeline in which he stars opposite Kriti Sanon.
