Why Ranbir Kapoor calls Bollywood the “house of heartbreaks”

Nothing lasts forever. Spin that wheel and lo behold, fortunes can be changed and rewritten overnight. In the case of Bollywood, every Friday. After all, every release handicaps this derby of actors and actresses, racing to the top. Many have made it own their own, while many swung their way to glory since their birth in the lap of luxury. But none of these have the liberty to take their stardom for granted. Fragile as a leaf in autumn. In the words of Ranbir Kapoor, this world of showbiz is a 'house of heartbreaks.' And you bet it's not for all those romantic affairs!

“We are in an industry where your heart is breaking all the time. People try and pull you down; and if you are a failure, they don't let you live,” the Tamasha star tells a leading newspaper. He further adds, “You just have to be prepared. If you want to survive in this industry, you have to have a strong value system and a strong idea of who you are. You can’t get swayed by the glamorous image onscreen.”

The 35-year-old asserts, "Stardom is the opportunity to make your own choices. If you have that, I do in my life, that’s what stardom is. It’s not about arrogance, its not about box office collections, or how rich you are.”

Reveling in the success of his latest release Sanju, Ranbir is enjoying the much-needed blockbuster stint of his film. The Kapoor scion has had a string of box office damps, following Tamasha, Roy, Bombay Velvet and Jagga Jasoos, and thus, the desperation was only justified. Moving forward, Ranbir will be seen in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra alongside Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. He also has YRF's Shamshera and a film with Ajay Devgn directed by Luv Ranjan in his kitty.
