Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Kabaddi-based sports drama starring Kangana Ranaut titled Panga?

Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly ki Barfi provide testimony to director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's possession of a unique voice in telling really good stories. Kangana Ranaut, on the other hand, has broken most stereotypes and believes in being off the beaten path. A common liking for experimentation is what makes Ashwiny and Kangana a name to reckon with. And much to our wishes, these two powerhouses are combining their forces for a sports drama, based on Kabaddi.

Amid reports of directing Alia Bhatt in a light-hearted drama, Ashwiny, in collaboration with Fox Studios, announced a film with Kangana in the lead. The project, which will see Kangana take charge as the main protagonist, is said to be titled Panga, reports a leading magazine. While Ashwiny is still working on the script, and the film is in its pre-production stage, if the report by the magazine is anything to go by, the story is set in north India. The narrative will follow Ranaut's journey from singleton to marriage, but nothing changes her love for the spirit.

Kangana recently flew back to Mumbai after wrapping up the London schedule of Mental Hai Kya. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the film is a psychological thriller in which she shares screen space with her Queen co-star Rajkummar Rao. Meanwhile, Ashwiny is scouting for a national level Kabaddi player to train her leading lady in the sport. As a part of her prep, the Simran star is busy practicing yoga to master holding her breath - a prerequisite for her role. She has apparently dedicated dates from October to December to shoot the sports-based film.

Kangana has Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi slated for a release this year. It is an epic biographical film based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi wherein the actress plays the lead role. Ranaut will also reunite with her Life in a... Metro director Anurag Basu for Imali, starring alongside Rajkummar.
