Janhvi Kapoor opens up about her obsession with Shah Rukh Khan's-Deepika Padukone's Om Shanti Om

Born in the lap of luxury, Janhvi Kapoor grew up with a dose of cinema and an obsession to see herself on the silver screen one day. Of course. She is the daughter of India's first female superstar, the iconic Sridevi, after all. Her tender shoulders are ladened with a glorious legacy, left behind an evergreen cine queen, who ruled the Hindi and the South film industry with much ease for five decades.

It is expected for movie stars to be equally dramatic and 'filmy' in real life. Their life is a shining example of the feat many can only dream of achieving. But Janhvi's eyes harboured only the 70 mm! Her legacy was her destination, a coincidence many would have seen coming. Oh, them genes! But she was clear in her head. Acting is her calling! A typical Bollywood buff at heart, Janhvi would, in fact, enact an actor scene by scene...sister Khushi was forced to join in too!

The 21-year-old told a leading news agency:

"I always wanted to see myself on screen. I remember I would watch random movies and was obsessed with 'Om Shanti Om'. I would enact every scene from the film and force Khushi to be Shah Rukh Khan and I'd be Deepika, doing that typical hand wave."

"Even with the film Titanic, Khushi would be Jack and I'd be Rose, and we would say those lines to each other, 'I'd never let go!'" she added.

The filmy baccha spent her growing years in the company of Bollywood luminaries - Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, half-brother Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor. All these actors under one roof, it would be unlikely to not develop a penchant for their profession.  "Even in real life, we are dramatic and filmy. Everything is life and death, the stakes are always high. The most filmy person in our family is my father. He is the most dramatic, about anything and everything. Our lives revolve around cinema, it's all movies," Janhvi quipped.

However, albeit she did have an inclination towards cinema, she did try out other options, just to be clear if it was the influence or the interest in the craft.

"I wanted to explore other avenues. I wanted to know if I'm inclined to this just because it's been in my house while growing up or is it really something I can dedicate myself to. So, I decided to take up an acting course, an art history course and a fashion course. I started with the acting course and I remember, it's like, once you live an honest moment in front of an audience, it's euphoric. It's an irreplaceable feeling," revealed Janhvi.

Four days from now, Janhvi appears for the ultimate test of her life! Expectations are at an all-time high, but the young actress is confident about her talent.

In her very first film, Dhadak, Janhvi is paired opposite Ishaan Khatter who makes his second screen appearance with the Shashank Khaitan directorial. Produced by Karan Johar, the movie is an official remake of Marathi superhit Sairat and is set to release on July 20, 2018.
