I recently learned that I should not speak at all: Janhvi Kapoor on being misquoted in media

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter are gearing up for their upcoming film Dhadak, set to release this Friday. While it is Janhvi’s debut film, Ishaan will be making his second screen appearance with the film post Beyond The Clouds. The two young actors have been leaving no stone unturned for promoting the film. In a recent interview, Janhvi revealed how she has recently learned not to speak her mind, at all!

Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s eldest daughter Janhvi has been in the spotlight for some time because of the release of her latest film. The young actress is the next big thing on the horizon and already boasts 2 million followers on Instagram. However, the actress is also finding out the negative aspects of being a celebrity. During a recent interview, Janhvi was asked whether she has been advised by the people around her on what not to do. She revealed that she has learned to stay quiet as much as possible and probably not speak her mind because she often gets misunderstood and her comments taken out of context.

Janhvi said,

“I recently learned that I should not speak at all...as much as possible. Just from these articles around me, I am feeling like maybe I should just shut up. I don't know, sometimes I read the kind of stuff that's being printed and it makes me cringe.  Like yesterday during a media interaction, I was asked if you had the opportunity to do a biopic of an actor, whose biopic would you do? So I said Madhubala ji, Waheeda Rahman ji, and Meena Kumari ji. And then I receive a text from my dad like why have you said that you can play Madhubala and Meena Kumari in a film. They just erased the question and now it sounds as if I can be these magnanimous, iconic people. I am not even like the dirt on their foot maybe. But it's so daunting, I don't know what to say ever. I just want to be quiet.”

Now now, Janhvi, misunderstandings do happen that doesn’t mean that you would take such an extreme step, no? However, let’s hope that Dhadak is a super duper hit and we get to see Janhvi giving more interviews and keeping us all entertained with her innocence and the non-starry attitude.
