Nobody asked Trishala Dutt the million dollar question when she went live on Instagram’s new ‘Ask Me Any Question’ feature. The question to ask Sanjay Dutt’s 29-year-old daughter, of course, was why was there no mention of her or her late mother and Sanjay’s first wife, Richa Sharma, in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic on the actor Sanju. Instead, people on Instafam asked Trishala questions like “How does it feel to be Sanjay Dutt’s daughter?”, “Was she more like her father or mother?” and “How does it feel to be living without her parents?” And why Hirani chose to ignore two of the first and most important, perhaps, women in Sanjay’s life in the film will remain a mystery.
It is doubtful whether Trishala would have answered any questions on Sanju in the first place. The girl, who has majored in criminal justice in the US and then specialised in forensic science, has maintained a stoic silence on Sanju. Leading Bollywood to believe that she is unhappy with the production. Perhaps because it makes no mention of her mother or her. But Trishala, who dabbled with acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, showed that her silence in no way reflected any coldness towards her iconic father whose controversial image was given a makeover in the biopic. For in the Q&A session on Instafam, Trishala gave all indications of things being normal and happy between Sanjay and her.
She let it be known that she admires him and has inherited certain traits from Sanjay that she is, well, known for. When asked how it feels to be Sanjay Dutt’s daughter, Trishala replied, “Honestly, it feels normal. He’s like any other father. When I’m with him, it feels like I’m with my dad. It doesn’t feel any different than what you probably feel when you are with your father.” When asked if she is more like her dad or mum Richa, Trishala gave a badass reply like Sanjay. She said, “My attitude and temper is like my dad. My kindness, gentleness and loving side is from my mom. My giving side and style is from both my parents.”
Hirani’s biopic, which has Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of a lifetime as Sanjay Dutt, brings fans of the actor up to date with his wife Maanyata and his release finally from jail in February 2016, but it totally ignores Trishala and Richa. Strange, given that Trishala is on excellent terms with Maanyata and her twins Shahraan and Iqra and both, Trishala and Maanyata, make their affection for each other known by making nice comments on each other’s posts on social media. Maybe Rajkumar Hirani will have to come on Instafam to answer this all important question that has gone unmentioned but is on everybody’s mind.
