Here's what Shahid Kapoor told Ishaan Khatter when he got to know about Dhadak

Ishaan Khatter might be making a Bollywood debut now with Dharma Productions' Dhadak, but he's not new to films. He belongs to a family where cinema is absorbed by all. Which also means that Ishaan understands the nuances of cinema and the efforts he needs to put into a character.

He says he chose Dhadak because he thinks of it as a story that's needed to be told. Ishaan, who plays Madhukar, a naive young boy in the Shashank Khaitan directorial talked to a leading daily and shared his experience of working in a big commercial entertainer like Dhadak. He said he was first little apprehensive about the project but warmed up to it gradually.

He revealed, "I didn’t look at it as a commercial entertainer, I looked at it as a story. I recognised that many factors are different, the treatment, the manner in which it is presented to a larger audience, etc.

I had a lot of inhibitions that I had to get past before doing this film. When we started shooting, it was so enjoyable that I asked Shashank, ‘Are you sure you are getting what you want?’

We were experimenting and getting good footage. I had a whale of a time, it took me a while to adjust to how much fun I was having while shooting the first half, which has a slightly dreamy, fantastical feel to it".

He even shared how his brother, actor Shahid Kapoor reacted to the news of him working on Dhadak. He stated that Shahid was quite honest when he said, "He had seen Sairat and liked it. He told me it’s a good film to do and that I was at the right age with the right dynamics to do the movie. More than that he felt I would be in good hands with Karan and Shashank empowering the film. He advised me to do my research in the language and be well-rehearsed before starting the movie. He wanted me to get that ravani and ease in the language".

Dhadak is also a Bollywood launching pad for Janhvi Kapoor, late actress Sridevi's daughter. Both the stars are busy promoting the film these days and their chemistry is being liked by the audience already.
