Janhvi Kapoor reveals Karan Johar made her audition for Dhadak

21-year-old Janhvi Kapoor offers heartstopping flashes of her legendary mother Sridevi, especially the innocence her big adorable eyes exude. Ever since her actress mother left for heavenly abode due to 'accidental drowning' in February earlier this year, Janhvi cocooned herself in a nutshell, but as she claims, if not for her Bollywood debut film, times would have been tougher for her. Janhvi put up a courageous front and returned back on the sets so that the movie keeps its date in theatres.

Janhvi, the elder daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, has been shining in the spotlight for years now. Ever since she was a shy teenager who impressed with her sartorial choices. But despite being a star-kid and knowing the who's who of the industry, landing Dhadak was no cakewalk for the filmy baccha. Contrary to the common belief, Karan Johar didn't just hand out the offer to Janhvi wrapped in a confetti bottle. Nipping off the notion of nepotism lingering around her debut, she revealed to a leading magazine she graced the cover of that KJo made he audition for the role of Parthavi.

"I actually did audition. Karan (Johar) came home and made me do a few readings of different scenes and eventually that evolved into getting a part in this film," Janhvi told the magazine.

A star in her own right, the brave girl is quite an old school at heart. Especially when it comes to fashion. From flashing his washboard abs to rocking svelte ensembles and comfy casuals, Janhvi's style statement is one that gives even seasoned actors a run for their money. But her personal pick is pretty retro she reveals. "I feel like I should have been born in the 1920s. Just like Owen Wilson's character in Midnight in Paris. I'm obsessed with flapper culture, especially the fashion, of course. I also love The Great Gatsby and everything about F Scott Fitzgerald, his life, and his work," Janhvi told the magazine.

Directed by Badrinath Ki Dulhania fame Shashank Khaitan, Dhadak stars Janhvi opposite Ishaan Khatter, Shahid Kapoor's half-brother. Bankrolled by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, the movie is the official Hindi remake of Marathi superhit Sairat and will release on July 20, 2018.
