Amitabh Bachchan treats me like his buddy; Sujoy Ghosh is a madcap: Taapsee Pannu

Taapsee Pannu has some amazing projects in hand. Currently, the Naam Shabana actress is in Glasgow shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s Badla with Amitabh Bachchan. She will be seen in a new avatar in Sujoy Ghosh’s revenge drama. Taapsee will be playing an entrepreneur, a sharp powerful businesswoman in the film. Speaking to a leading daily, Taapsee shared some anecdotes about Amitabh and Sujoy.

Sujoy’s film is an official remake of the Spanish film, The Invisible Guest. However, the director has changed quite a few things from the original to suit Indian sensibilities. Talking about the film, Taapsee told the leading daily, “Sujoy didn’t want to do a copy–paste job. My memories of the original are hazy now and I deliberately didn’t refresh them because I wanted to approach the film with a fresh perspective. It’s a character I’ve been waiting for.”

Taapsee will be reuniting with Amitabh after appearing with him in the critically acclaimed Pink. Apparently, the actress does not think of him as ‘The Amitabh Bachchan’, during the shoot or else she would be in too much awe to perform. Talking about the veteran actor, Taapsee said, “He (Amitabh) treats me like his buddy. That’s the vibe we’ve shared since Pink and he has carried it forward here too. I hope we can continue working together as we make a good team.”

Taapsee revealed that Sujoy and her have been trying to work things out since the time Baby released. Sharing funny anecdotes about the director she called him a ‘madcap’. Taapsee said, "He is the goofiest person on the set and because his energy is so positive, all of us enjoy ourselves. Whenever I’m stressed or exhausted, I go and have a chat with Sujoy, the madcap, and am instantly rejuvenated."

On the work front, Taapsee has just wrapped up director Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan opposite Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal. She plays the quintessential Sikh girl in the film. She is also in discussion for a Phantom production titled Womaniya, but nothing is official as yet. Her film Soorma which is a biopic on the life of Indian Hockey player Sandeep Singh, also starring Diljit Dosanjh, is slated to release on July 13, 2018.
