Verdict’s out: Dhadak's Hindi Zingaat ft. Janhvi-Ishaan is just as zingy!

The comparisons were bound to be there. When it was revealed that Shashank Khaitan’s official remake of Nagraj Manjule’s Marathi blockbuster Sairat would include the chart-busting song ‘Zingaat…’, everyone and their granny had their fingers crossed. Would they tamper with that super-duper tune? Would the lead couple’s energy match up to the original? Would the Hindi lyrics do justice to the original Marathi? Yes, yes and yes! Dhadak’s ‘Zingaat…’ will set your feet tapping and your face beaming just like the original version did in Sairat.

Composed and sung by Ajay-Atul, they stick close to the original, leaving listeners with no reason to complain. While Amitabh Bhattacharya has written the lyrics, Ajay-Atul have also lent their voices to the song.

One of the most infectious songs to have been composed in popular film music, ‘Zingaat…’ is the last of the four tunes in the soundtrack to feature in the original film. The setting is a birthday party at the home of the leading lady, which her lover and his pals gate-crash.
Colours, peppy music and perfectly choreographed moves mark the picturisation of the song, with Janhvi and Ishaan revelling in happy abandon. Choreography by Farah Khan and symmetrical formations make this number a visual delight as well. What’s more, despite the planned moves it manages to capture the riotous vibe of the original.

Speaking about writing the lyrics for this hit song, Amitabh Bhattacharya had shared, “Rewriting ‘Zingaat…’ in Hindi was a bit of a challenge because the original song is still very fresh and has reached a cult following. It did not make sense to replace the word ‘Zingaat’ so we retained it and rewrote the rest of the song in Hindi. I have tried my best to make it fun. I hope this one too, resonates with the audience.”

No fears on that count; “It’s time to do the Zingaat,” as Karan Johar declares!
