2016’s cult Marathi film Sairat first introduced us to the wonderful dance number Zingaat. It has been two long years but the fervour of the song just does not seem to end. However, a little newness is always a good idea. The makers of Dhadak have brought to us the Hindi version of the song featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter.
The audio song was first heard during the trailer launch. Now, the video of the song has been officially launched and we’re pumped up! The song features the lead actors in a jam-packed party environment moving to the steps of ace choreographer Farah Khan. The Hindi version, too, has been reprised by original composer-singer duo Ajay-Atul. However, lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya has added Hindi and Mewari flavour to the song with quirky and fun words.

The lyricist reveals that rewriting the song in Hindi was a challenge. He said, “The Marathi song was released in the recent past and is still fresh in the minds of people. It has also achieved cult status. There was no point replacing the word Zingaat, so I retained the word and rewrote the rest of the song in Hindi. I made sure that the fun element was intact. I hope people give this version as much love as the Marathi one.”
Ajay revealed that there are some differences between the two versions, “The beginning chorus in the Marathi song was in English, while in the Hindi version the chorus is similar to what we hear in Rajasthani songs.” Composer Atul shares, “We were confident Amitabh Bhattacharya would do justice to it. We are very happy with the Hindi version. We saw people dance in theatres when Zingaat (from Sairat) played on the big screen. So, I was sure that the Hindi adaptation will also have that effect.”
It’s time to put on your dancing shoes back. You might as well carry it everywhere because believe us this song is the go-to anthem for every celebration. The film is slated to release on July 20, 2018, and is directed by Shashank Khaitan under Karan Johar’s home banner Dharma Productions.
