Even as his step-sister Janvhi Kapoor’s debut film Dhadak prepares for release on July 20, the run up to D-day is making Arjun Kapoor nostalgic. The 32-year-old actor can’t help remembering his own debut film Ishaqzaade, which released in 2012. Looking at the response of audiences to the trailer of the Isaan-Janhvi starrer Dhadak, Arjun says he now understands how people reacted to rushes of his own debut film. “When I see rushes of Dhadak, I realise this is how people must have seen my debut trailer. I was in that trailer, and I didn't get any sense at that time and today six years later, maybe I can be objective about how people experienced Parma and Zoya.”
Incidentally, he and Parineeti had played Parma and Zoya in Ishaqzaade, two youngsters from warring political families who fell in love and eventually met a grisly end. The film bears a strong resemblance to Janhvi’s Dhadak, based on the Marathi film Sairat which deals with two youngsters divided by caste who fall in love and pay a deadly price.
Full of encouragement for his sister and Ishaan, Arjun maintains, “Ishaan and Janhvi look amazing together and Shashank is a very dear friend. We worked on Ishaqzaade. He has turned out to be a perfect choice to bring out energy from these two young actors. I am happy people are liking the trailer and the songs. I have a feeling that Dhadak is going to be a big hit,” he predicted.
Arjun has grown extremely protective of his sisters Janhvi and Khushi post the sudden demise of their mother, legendary actress Sridevi. During the very difficult time, he stood by the family like a pillar.
Recently Arjun had even slammed an entertainment website for making cheap remarks on Janhvi. He expressed his anger on Twitter and wrote “U know what F**k u man f**k u as a website for highlighting or bringing it to anyone s attention...and it’s shameful that ur eye would go searching for something like this shame on u...this is how our country looks at young women yet another shining example...ashamed by this...”
