The film Hindi Medium, starring Irrfan had fared well at the box office last year and was one of the sleeper hits of 2017. Seeing the response that the film received the makers announced a sequel too. Hindi Medium 2 is expected to go on floors by the end of this year. However, owing to Irrfan’s ill health, the ace actor will not be a part of the second installment of the franchise.
However, now the reports are coming in that all is not hunky-dory between producer Dinesh Vijan and director Saket Chaudhary who had directed the first part. A leading daily reported that Dinesh announced Hindi Medium 2 with Homi Adajania and reportedly Saket wasn’t even informed about it. Apparently, Saket came to know of the development only when news came out. Saket’s exit from the project came as a shock to the film trade since he had ideated and designed the whole film. Apparently, the filmmaker and the producer had fallout because of financial issues.

It seems all is not well between the two. As reported by the daily, Dinesh had promised certain remuneration to helm the comedy-drama. Although the film made a clear profit he is still to clear Saket’s dues.
In fact, during a recent award function when the film received the Best Film Award at a function Vijan did not even invite the director on stage and refused to acknowledge Saket’s presence at all. Irrfan won his Filmfare Best Actor Award for his portrayal in the film. The original film had Pakistani actress Saba Qamar in the lead role.
However, no confirmations about the new development have come from either quarter. Saif Ali Khan’s daughter Sara Ali Khan will supposedly star in the sequel and will play a teenager in the film.
