Kangana and Anurag Basu mend bridges with Rajkummar Rao starrer 'Imali'

All three are genuine powerhouses of talent and it is good news for fans of cinema in general, now that Rajkummar Rao, Kangana Ranaut and director Anurag Basu are coming together for Imali. Incidentally, this is the third outing for the lead pair, which comes on the heels of Queen (2014) and Mental Hai Kya, which they are currently shooting for.

This Anurag Basu directorial is pegged to be a love story which deals with relationships on a very human level. We can see both artistes do complete justice to it. Shooting will begin in November after Kangana wraps up Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's next.

Confirming the film, Kangana shared, “It’s too early to talk about Imali as we are starting the film around the year-end. All I can say is Anurag is my godfather and everything I am today is because of him… I can’t wait to go back to the beginning.”

We can well understand her emotions. A young girl from the hills who had left home to chase her Bollywood dreams, Kangana had encountered severe problems before she could get that elusive break. It was Anurag who had noticed the spark in her way back when she had auditioned for the Bhatts’ production house. She bagged Anurag’s Gangster and never had to look back. Post that, she also collaborated with Anurag on projects such as Life in a... Metro and Kites. However, they did not work together post the Hrithik Roshan-starrer.

This was allegedly due to a fallout between them as Kangana was supposedly upset that the other leading lady, Barbara Mori, got more screen time while her own role suffered.
Now 8 years after Kites, she reunites with Anurag, the filmmaker who had praised her warmly in an interview last year. “She is fantastic and growing with each film…With every single character that she plays, she has mastered the art of character building,” he had raved.

It is good to see the Barfi! director and his muse rebuild their association as well.
