Aishwarya refutes rumours of stopping Abhishek from signing Shonali Bose's next film

It was rumoured that Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra will once again share screen space in Shonali Bose’s next film based on the real-life story of Aisha Chaudhary. However, now reports are coming in that the Manmarziyaan actor has declined the director’s offer. However, the name of Abhishek’s wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was mentioned as the reason for the actor to refuse the film.

But, Abhishek had said no the film. Apparently, it was alleged that Aishwarya had stopped Abhishek from taking up the project helmed by Margherita With a Straw director Shonali. Some media houses reported that Aishwarya feels Abhishek should do more films like Manmarziyaan where he has a meatier role. However, laying all speculations and rumours aside, a statement was issued by Aishwarya's team that read, “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan not too keen for Abhishek Bachchan to sign Shonali Bose’s next film has been doing rounds on the internet. To clear the record Abhishek Bachchan has refused this particular film and it’s a low down tactic to drag Aishwarya’s name in this context.”

The film is based on the life of Aisha Chaudhary who lived a very short life. She was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis at the tender age of 13 years and passed away at 18 years of age. She became a motivational speaker and later penned a book called My Little Epiphanies. Abhishek was approached to play the role of her father while Zaira Wasim of Dangal fame was approached to play the role of Aisha and Priyanka would have been the mother. However, now the makers will have to search for another actor to essay the role of her father.

If Abhishek and Priyanka had come together for the film then this would have been their third collaboration. They have previously worked in films like Bluffmaster, Drona and Dostana.
