Now the two powerhouse actors are collaborating on Tannishtha’s directorial debut which will be based on a true story. Talking about Nawazuddin, Tannishtha said that the two have the most vibrant creative conversations and it is logical that they come up with a story that they themselves would like to watch. She said that during the shooting of Lion she had told him that there is a book that she would like to adapt. However, during a film festival, the actress encountered a strange incident which Nawazuddin and she thought of bringing it to the screen.

Tannishtha has already started work on the pre-production of her film and plans to start shooting later this year. Nawaz expressed his excitement about the project and shared,"We share a wonderful creative rapport. When Tannishtha narrated the story, I felt that it will make for a good film and we started talking about the idea which is now unfolding into a film." Nawaz has recently completed the dubbing of Ritesh Batra’s Photograph and is shooting for Abhijit Panse’s biopic on the late politician Bal Thackeray.

Tannishtha wanted to turn director for a while now but had to wait for the right story. When she related the story to Nawaz he encouraged her to write and direct it. The film is produced by Eros International, Pankaj Razdan and Ravi Walia.
