Ouch: Aishwarya might have to take a pay cut for Fanne Khan

Uh-oh, not so great news for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan… Ever since beleaguered producers Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor of KriArj Entertainment had to bow out of the upcoming Fanne Khan, changes are setting in. Apparently, with Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series taking over the film and co-producing it with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s production house, the logistics are being re-looked. Budget, which is a major player in a film’s production, is also undergoing changes and the pay scales are being revised.

Buzz goes that Aishwarya has been requested to take a pay cut. This is bound to vex, as this move comes after the film has mostly been completed, save for two songs and a few key scenes. It is not known yet whether Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao have also been asked to agree to the reduced remuneration.

Aishwarya, who was last seen in Sarbjit, had recently spoken about the role she is essaying in Fanne Khan. Maintaining that there was a reason why she took up Fanne Khan, she had said, “I am a chapter in the film, not the fulcrum. There are other talents in the story and you will see why I chose to do the film once it releases.”

With the struggling KriArj out of the picture, this also probably puts paid to the news of Aishwarya being paid Rs.10 crore for the remake of Satyen Bose’s 1967 mystery thriller Raat Aur Din. Aishwarya had been confirmed for the film, which was based on the original, which had starred Nargis Dutt in the lead role who suffers from multiple personality disorder.

At that time, producer Prernaa had declared, “Working with Aishwarya on Fanne Khan has been a pleasure. Now, there are two more films we are collaborating on with her… Since Aishwarya has a double role, the film will require extensive preparation. It will be a time-consuming project, which means she will have to let go of the other films that come her way. The fee she has quoted is fair. The producers have agreed to the amount without any negotiation.”

We get the feeling there will be more pay cuts in the offing…
