Sonam Kapoor and her team of Veere Di Wedding are in the last leg of the film's promotion. The actress has been interacting with the media and spilling the beans on both her professional and personal lives. In one such conversation with a daily, the newly married actress talked about why the makers could only see their veere in Kareena Kapoor herself.
Sonam revealed that Kareena's pregnancy was never a deterrent in casting her for the role of Kalindi Puri in the film. She said, "There was never a question about doing the film with any other actress. We were very open to shooting with Kareena even when she was pregnant. Unfortunately, you cannot get insurance if you’re pregnant and making a film without insurance is impossible. We did not know about this before."
She added that it's her duty as a woman to support another woman and all of them at Veere Di Wedding wanted to be with Kareena during her maternity leaves. Sonam stated, "As women, we need to stand by each other in every way possible. After Kareena said ‘yes’ to Veere Di Wedding, there were other actresses who wanted to do the role and we could have gone ahead with anybody else. But she was the best fit for the role, the first choice, and an irreplaceable part of the film. Someone as committed and talented as she is, deserves a team that waits for her."
Clearly, the girls of Veere Di Wedding have formed a bond which is going to go far now. It's always good to see an actress talking so highly about another actress. Isn't it?
