Sridevi, 54, left for heavenly abode in a surprising turn of events earlier in February this year. The veteran actress died of 'accidental drowning' in the bathtub of her hotel room in Dubai, where she had flown with husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi to attend a family wedding. Her tragic passing away has left an irreplaceable void as we still struggle to bring ourselves to the terms of writing about her in past tense. But the superstar remains immortal, with a legacy of splendid performances she left behind.
Sridevi, who dedicated 50 years from her total lifespan of 54 years to cinema, was blessed with the best of acting chops and beauty alike. The actress whose 300 films we cherish from time to time, was remembered at the 90th Academy Awards during the In Memoriam segment. She was posthumously awarded the Best Actress Award at the National Film Awards for her performance in Mom, which was her received by her husband Boney and daughters Janhvi and Khushi. After Oscars and National Awards, it was during the 71st Cannes Film Festival that the late actress was honoured for her contribution to the Indian cinema.
She was honoured with a special salute at the Titan Reginald F. Lewis Film Honours. Speaking about the same Boney Kapoor earlier told a leading daily, “I’m happy that people from the world over are recognising her body of work and her contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it’s comforting to know that she lives on through her work.”
Filmmaker Subhash Ghai collected the award on behalf of the actress' family. 'It was honour to receive Award on behalf of legend @SrideviBKapoor at @Festival_Cannes yesterday for her outstanding contribution in indian cinema n shared my experience with impeccable inimitable actor to western audience hosted by Titan Reginald F. Lewis film honours,' he wrote in a tweet alongside pictures from the ceremony.

After the untimely demise of Sridevi, Boney is planning to depict his legendary actress wife’s journey on film himself. He has already registered three titles of the upcoming film with the Title Registration Committee of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA).
