Diljit-Kriti ft. ‘Arjun Patiala’ first look out: Laugh-riot sequels every few years can be expected, says the producer

Earlier today, the first look of Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma starrer Arjun Patiala was released. Diljit is back in the Police uniform after Udta Punjab but his mission this time around seems to be comical rather than anything close to serious. Joining him as his sidekick is Varun, famously known as Choocha from the Fukery series. Kriti, too, is back to playing small town girl after Bareily Ki Barfi as Ritu. Diljit and Varun will be playing the role of local cops and Kriti will be seen as a local crime reporter for a TV Channel.

Set in a small town of Punjab, Arjun Patiala is said to be an out and out Bollywood comic caper. With films like Jatt and Juliet 1 & 2 and Sardar Ji, Diljit has set a standard for comedy genre in Punjabi cinema. Now, he is all prepared to bring the same madness on big Bollywood screen. Varun, best known for his comic timings and innocent humour, will be seen as a sarcastic and arrogant cop who goes by the Onida Singh.

Diljit a.k.a Arjun falls in love at first sight with Kriti – the scoop-hungry crime reporter. These good guys will be fighting Zeeshan Quadri, the baddie who piles up corpses without any hesitation. Keeping it in line with the true blue Punjabi fashion, Zeeshan’s character is called Sakool (school).

The producer of the film Dinesh Vijan said, “We have never attempted an out-and-out comedy before, we decided to experiment with one which is more situational than slapstick. If this film works, we would be happy to spin a franchise with Arjun, Onida and Ritu returning as the principal players. We already have an idea for Part 2 and like Golmaal and Fukrey; Arjun will be back with a Patiala peg every couple of years,”

The cast has wrapped up shooting for the extended schedule in Chandigarh and Mumbai schedule’s last leg. The film is helmed by Rohit Jugraj and is scheduled to hit the screens on September 13, 2018.
