Kareena broke norms, was back to work in Veere Di Wedding after Taimur's birth: Sonam

The trailer of Veere Di Wedding was launched today amid much fanfare and the four leading ladies that are Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania faced a barrage of questions from the media. Sonam, who is reportedly getting married in May to beau Anand Ahuja had some serious questions for the media and society at large. She said that Kareena broke norms as she came back to work after having a baby.

Sonam was looking like a dream in a white ensemble at the trailer launch and she revealed that she had a gala time shooting with the girls on the movie Veere Di Wedding.  Sonam had a lot praise and appreciation for Kareena and said, “I have to thank Bebo for doing Veerey Di Wedding. We've always been friends. She's been extremely graceful amazing to work with. We had an amazing time to work with her. She's such an incredible actor.”

Kareena’s son Taimur Ali Khan is the darling of the media and every picture of his that surfaces on the internet goes viral but ironically, she is not a part of any social media site. Sonam along with Swara and Shikha have been trying to urge Kareena to join social media but to no avail.

Sonam also had a bone to pick with the media because the discrimination that supposedly creeps in when an actress gets married or has a baby. She reiterated that an actor never gets asked the question whether he will continue working after marriage or when will he make a comeback after having a child but an actress is always asked this. She said, “Nobody asks these questions to man. Shahid Kapoor got married but no one asked him if he will continue to work. But Kareena was asked these questions. But she has broken those norms. She got married, had a baby and was on set shooting.”

Sonam’s remarks are not a stand-alone comment but is testimony to the fact that many actresses are calling out the discrimination that is meted out to them by media undermining their work and roles and highlighting more about what they are wearing on the red carpet or whom they are dating instead of focusing on their roles and characters in the movies they star in. Veere Di Wedding’s trailer has been well received by the audience and the movie is all set to release on June 1, 2018.
