Varun Dhawan starts Kalank Shoot with his introductory song featuring Kiara Advani

Varun Dhawan who is on cloud nine after receiving accolades and appreciation for his recently released movie October, has started shooting for his next film. The actor’s next film is Abhishek Varman directed Kalank, and the Badlapur actor kick started the shoot with his introductory song in the film. The actor reunited with his ABCD 2 director Remo D’Souza, who choreographed the ambitious song. The song will feature 500 backup dancers grooving with Varun on the sets in Mumbai created by Amrita Mahal.

The song has been composed by Pritam. However, since the singers are yet to be finalized for the song, the Kalank team shot on a scratch version of the track over four nights. A source close to the film revealed that Kiara Advani makes a special appearance in the song. The source said, “Varun began his rehearsals with Remo’s team four days before shoot and Kiara joined him on the last two days. In between shots, the actor would catch up on his workouts in a gym specially built on set.”

Varun’s co-star from his earlier films like Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Alia Bhatt is also a part of the film and paired opposite Varun. She is expected to join the shoot today. This will be the actors’ fourth film together.

Kalank  is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Fox Star Studios and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and is a period drama set in 1940s, reportedly having the Partition as its backdrop. The movie also features Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit who stepped in for Sridevi after the latter’s untimely demise, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha. It is slated to release on April 19, 2019.

Varun, who has his 31st birthday coming up on Tuesday will probably have to celebrate it on the sets and a big celebration is expected to be organized by his co-stars and the crew as he shoots through the night.
