No messing with Nadeem: Is this Aamir Khan’s condition for Mogul?

While Aamir Khan has reportedly given the nod to playing slain music baron Gulshan Kumar in the biopic Mogul, conditions apply… In the daylight murder of Kumar, music director Nadeem had been accused by the Mumbai police of killing Gulshan Kumar in 1997 with the help of the underworld. Soon after, Nadeem Saifi, who was one half of the composer duo Nadeem-Shravan, had fled the country and settled in London.

Now Aamir has put forward his condition – apparently, he does not want the film to include very blatant references to the crime or the underworld via the accused music director Nadeem’s character. Instead, he wants to depict the human side of T-Series’ founder and head honcho, the late Gulshan Kumar. According to sources, Aamir does not want Mogul to become simply a chronicle of the events in the life of the music company owner and film producer.

We can understand his desire to tread cautiously… Apparently, the London-based Nadeem will be watching Mogul very closely. He also has plans to produce a biopic on his own life after Mogul releases.

The life of Gulshan Kumar Dua was probably meant to be captured on celluloid. The son of a Delhi fruit juice vendor, he had changed career paths when his family acquired a shop selling records and cheap audio cassettes. It was the beginning of a vast music empire. He started his own audio cassette operation known as Super Cassettes Industries, which turned into a profitable business. He started a music production company in Noida and moved to Mumbai. The hits followed in quick succession. His company T-Series emerged as one of the top music labels in India.

His murder outside a Shiva temple in Andheri West had sent shockwaves through the country. The police accused film composer Nadeem Saifi of having paid for the murder due to a personal dispute.
