Rishi turns singer, Amitabh, composer in 102 Not Out

They keep giving us life goals, Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor. After several decades in the industry, their enthusiasm is on point and they are even testing new ground. Now the duo has turned music composer and singer with a song titled ‘Badumbaaa’ in their upcoming 102 Not Out. While the song was composed by Amitabh Bachchan, it also has Rishi Kapoor singing its crazy lyrics. It’s a first for both these veteran actors – for Bachchan, as a composer and Kapoor, as a singer.

According to the director Umesh Shukla, both actors will be seen in their screen avatars in this promotional song. The song captures their zingy chemistry. Incidentally, while Shukla’s original plan had been to compose a mash-up of the stars’ past songs like ‘Lambuji Tinguji…’ from Coolie and ‘Chal mere bhai…’ from Naseeb, the ever-animated Bachchan suggested they come up with something original. And thus was born ‘Badumbaaa’, which also happens to be Bachchan’s fave expression which he uses umpteen times on social media to convey great joy!

The song was shot last month at Film City over the course of a 3-day shoot. It has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya and not surprisingly, the duo has supposedly aced the steps. Watch out for the signature step, we are told; it’s a blast. Incidentally, Rishi Kapoor was a little hesitant when the idea of him singing was broached. However, one day of rehearsal and he was gunning to record!

The song is a perky number which is all about living life to the fullest – in sync with the theme of the film. Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor play an aged father-son duo in this comedy with a heart. While the 102-year-old father has devised a plan to outlive the oldest man (118-year-old) he has to contend with his 75-year-old son who is a wet blanket. While Bachchan’s character believes in the YOLO way of life, Kapoor’s character takes life very, very seriously.

We are so ready for this laughathon!
